What does the merchant actually have to do?

Approve a design, and provide access to two accounts. That is the whole list — everything else is the studio’s work, and a supplier who needs more than this from you is asking you to manage the project.

What you provide, once

  • Your logo, as a file rather than a screenshot.
  • Your brand colours, or permission to take them from your site.
  • Read access to your Shopify store, so the app can show your catalogue. No payout access and no staff account is needed, and you can see exactly what was granted in your Shopify admin at any time.
  • Apple and Google developer accounts in your name. If they do not exist we set them up with you; they should be yours rather than ours.

What you decide

One thing, really: whether the design is right. Everything downstream follows from it, which is why it is worth a proper look rather than a quick yes. You can shorten this considerably by assembling the screens yourself first — the builder on this site exists for exactly that, and it costs nothing.

What you do not have to do

You do not write anything, upload any product, resize any image, learn any dashboard, or involve a developer. You do not maintain a second catalogue — the app reads Shopify. You do not deal with Apple’s review process or Google’s data disclosures.

How long your part takes

An hour or two, spread across a fortnight: a call at the start, a design review in the middle, and a look at the finished app before it is submitted. If a supplier’s process needs substantially more of your time than that, ask what they are outsourcing to you.

Thinking about an app for your store?

A short call, and an honest answer about whether it is worth it for you yet.
