The Discount Locker: four years live, and still shipping updates
The oldest app we have running went live in 2021 and is still receiving updates. That is the claim worth making about a studio, and it is the one nobody makes.
What the app does
The Discount Locker sells discounted stock, which makes timing the whole product. When the value of a thing is that its price dropped today, the channel that reaches somebody today is the business — and that channel is a push notification, not an email that is opened tomorrow.
So the app is built around the drop. The home screen leads with what is new rather than with a brand statement, and a notification goes out when it lands. Everything else on the screen exists to get somebody from that notification to the checkout without a detour.
Why “four years” is the part that matters
Launching an app is a project with an end date. Keeping one alive is not: iOS and Android both ship a major release every year, each deprecating something, and both stores periodically raise the minimum they will accept an update from. An app nobody maintains does not break dramatically — it quietly stops being updatable, and then quietly stops working.
Four years of updates is a harder thing to point at than a launch announcement, and it is the only evidence that a studio is still there after the invoice.
Install it
It is on the App Store and Google Play today. We would rather you judged the loading time yourself than read our description of it — the links are here, along with every other app we have shipped.
